Granite countertops have become very popular in recent years. They are available in a wide range of colors and come in several different styles and are extremely durable. However, as with any work surface granite countertop has to have special care to maintain its original shine and functionality.

For example, if you maintain granite properly it will become lifeless and dull. You can restore it back to its original shine with just a bit of time and effort.

To restore lifeless dull granite use dishwashing liquid and a micro fiber cloth. Make sure the work surface is clean with the cloth and cleaner before you start polishing. Always use a cleaner that is safe to use on granite or use dishwashing liquid. Harsher chemicals will dull the granite and it will be tough to get the shine back. This is why you should use only mild cleaners. After you clean the countertop use granite polish. Polish the entire surface and not just the main work area.

Manufacturer instructions should be strictly followed to apply and remove granite polish. Granite polish is used to protect granite surfaces from things such as harsh cleaners, food and alcohol acids which can burn natural stone. Granite polish also prevents rings from glassware from forming on the granite surface. The next step is rinse off the granite polish using clean water, rinse then repeat until the residue is gone from the polish.

To keep that beautiful shine clean the surface daily using granite safe clean. Maintaining granite properly means a beautiful shine for years to come. Always use this process whenever you see the granite starting to look dull. Always clean up any spills immediately especially liquids. Never place hot pots and pans directly on a granite surface as it will scorch the granite. When using granite polish always wear protective gloves.
